This painting was created as a surprise gift for their wedding anniversary. Both the husband and wife had admired my work and I had met with them about 6 months before I was commissioned to paint this painting. He wanted it to be a landscape that leaned more toward my abstract impressionistic style. Also, he told me that his wife loved churches and if I could place a church somewhere in the painting would be great. We decided on a 24x36 size and painted in acrylics.

I was so excited to be able to paint something that would be for a gift. When I had finished, I gave the husband a call to come by and view the piece. He studied it and felt it was what he was looking for. He asked me to keep it at my home because he wanted to bring his wife by that weekend to present his surprise. I believe he told her he had a stop to make on their way to dinner. As they walked up my sidewalk she was able to peek in my window and see my easel. This gave her a hint of why they were here. Needless to say, she was a very happy girl.
